I see lots of people knocking Blackberry smartphones. I mean they’re not exactly the porsche of the smartphone world that they used to be. I remember the initial prestige and prowess that came with rocking a Blackberry in 1999. Boy you must work for a huge corporation or the government or something!

Today, with the high end phones like the iPhone 4, the Samsung Galaxy S and other types, the Blackberry seems… ill-equipped to some. Sure it can’t do 3d graphics, HD video, HD recording, higher end camera, or webkit browsing… But don’t get discouraged by those who think Blackberries are a lesser quality device…

A Blackberry can be dropped from 6 feet up and not break when it hits the floor. Try that with an iPhone 4!! (Glass on the front AND the back). Try that with just about any android phone…

A Blackberry has enterprise level security options, it’s the ideal organizer and what a thought, the phone quality is amazing! I”d put a Blackberry’s speakerphone against the iPhone 4 or the nexus or Galaxy Samsung devices any day.

In 2011, a Blackberry says that your not interested in carrying something around that’s some kinda toy but a business device that will never loose your contact data when you upgrade your OS (Like the iPhone).

Any new years resolutions for 2010?

Perhaps one was to write an ebook? I have the killer app you should consider owning that won’t cost the price of a 300 word article but could save you all the time in the world…

What if you could utilize that 5 minutes in the car waiting for someone or that 15 minute walk to create an ebook and sell it online? But typing on a bberry aint your thing right?

After buying a voice recorder, and forgetting it at home. After buying a laptop, an organizer and a palm pilot… perhaps even a netbook… this concept could be your 2010 life saver!

One of the number one rules in online marketing… Is TARGET audience… key word being target… the intended recipient… Look at some sad advertiser on Google Adwords selling iPhone cases to the blackberry community! I wonder what his conversion rate is… %.0001 ? I mean sure, if your girlfriend has an iPhone, you might wanna get one for her… but truth is… what’s the girlfriend of a blackberry user doin with an iPhone anyway? Shouldn’t she be showing off a curve? <wink>

Research In Motion filed it’s Q3 Report, showing just how popular and profitable they truly are. Based on the run of media and lack of devices they showed for the Bold 9700 when it first came out, it’s no surprise that they’re doing better than anyone could have imagined… In fact, reports of doing more sales than the iPhone on the Curve models… The curve in my opinion is really more of a college kid phone than a business tool – lacking WIFI and other handy on the road tools.

Interesting note, RIM sold their 75 millionth Blackberry, showing exactly what kind of strength this company really holds!

Revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2010 was $3.92 billion, up 11% from $3.53 billion in the previous quarter and up 41% from $2.78 billion in the same quarter of last year. The revenue breakdown for the quarter was approximately 82% for devices, 14% for service, 2% for software and 2% for other revenue.   During the quarter, RIM shipped approximately 10.1 million devices.

Fact is, we’re the proud owners of devices that are manufactured by a very healthy company with quite a strong future ahead of it!
