Blackberry OS 6.0 One Homepage Tray Fix

Written by admin on January 17, 2011 – 11:38 pm -

I went googling all over the web after about a week of using the Blackberry 9780 to find something that would fix the way the home screen works. It drives me insane! I don’t like having a favorites, and a home and a media etc, etc. It actually angers me.

I went looking for a homescreen plugin, or a homescreen theme fix or even some kinda homescreen tray removal thing. Anything that would get that home set of icons to stay still, stay put and not move. Some way to have a fixed group of icons on the home screen.

While I haven’t found that yet, in the mean time I’ll say that one thing that helps reduce anger about it.. whenever you get lost, hit the red phone hangup button and that heads straight to the default “all programs” and it’s easy to find your way from there.

Bold 9700 and Bold 9780 Chargers for $0.83

Written by admin on January 17, 2011 – 11:32 pm -

I was surfing amazon today and saw that they have Blackberry 9700 and Blackberry 9780 wall chargers for $0.83!!
Make no mistake, this charger is the same small motorola created mini-usb end that we’re so familiar with that came out with the 9700 and has been stuck with since then on all new models.

Short post, I know, but it was really shocking to me actually.

The Style 9670 – Worth mentioning?

Written by admin on January 11, 2011 – 11:36 pm -

f RIM’s done some pretty funny things over the years, it has to be inventing the Style Blackberry. Not only is the flip-phone that’s borrowed every nasty thing from the latest blackberries leaving out everything that was good.

Here’s my feelings – your welcome to your own of course.

Skipping a review of all features included (since likely every other site out there has already done a review of the Style 9670’s features and specifications) I simply want to highlight what this means to Blackberry Bold owners and whether we should ever consider one of these ugly things.

First off… RIM touts these displays as “High resolution” while this isn’t really true. The outside screen is a QVGA 65,000 color display and the inner display is akin to the 8520’s 360×480 view.

The keyboard is the same hard to press type keyboard that exists on the Blackberry Torch…

It’s narrower than the bold making it not as enjoyable to hold…

So in short, with an even harder to press keyboard than the torch…

Many reviews claim it’s a great phone. They claim that they barely notice the low resolution screen. I hate to say that when I had the 8520 and I cracked OS 5.0 on there (comes with 4.6), I found it to be painfully slow and the screen size was the end for me. Some reviews say it’s got the same processor as the other recent new phones by Rim… The infamous 624MHz ARM chip that runs the entire Bold 9000,9700, 9780 and 9650. One could argue with a 320×400 res screen, running less screen pixels and real estate could make it peppier than a Bold, but that wouldnt’ deter me from telling anyone to stay away from the crippled thing running a smaller battery than the average Blackberry and having smaller screens with a harder to type on keyboard.

Not much else worth mentioning…
